Gardiner Centre and Faculty of Business Administration acknowledges partners and celebrates award winners

There was a lot to celebrate at the Faculty of Business Administration’s annual Partners celebration recently, but the highlight was hearing how much winning the Alumni Honour Award and the Entrepreneur of the Year Award meant to the recipients.

Earl Ludlow, president and chief executive officer of Newfoundland Power Inc. and a graduate of the master's of business administration program, was the recipient of the Alumni Honour Award in recognition of his career success and contribution to the community. Glenn Hickey, owner and president of Hickey Group of Companies, was the recipient of the Gardiner Centre’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Gardiner Centre partners with International Personnel Management Association of Canada

The Gardiner Centre is pleased to announce that it is now recognized as an educational partner for the International Personnel Management Association of Canada (IPMA-Canada).

IPMA-Canada members can now receive professional development credit towards their recertification of the IPMA/CP (Certified Professional) and IPMA/CS (Certified Specialist) designations by attending Gardiner Centre seminars/programs in related topic areas (e.g. Human Resource Management, Leadership) .

For information on whether a specific Gardiner Centre seminar/program qualifies for credit towards recertification, please email the association info@ipma-aigp.ca. For more information on IPMA certification please visit http://www.ipma-aigp.ca/.

The Gardiner Centre is pleased to announce it will be offering a new Social Media & E-Marketing Certificate of Achievement starting in Fall 2010.

The Social Media & E-Marketing Certificate provides you with the opportunity to be introduced to the world of e-marketing and social media that are available to your business.

Through hands on training sessions, you will become familiar with the different media, understand the marketing objectives that they can help you achieve, and begin to establish your presence in the e-marketing world.

All modules of the certificate are facilitated by Lyle Wetsch, an Associate Professor of Marketing at Memorial University, who has been teaching internet marketing since 1998, and is recognized as a leading authority on the application of social media.

The Based in Business camp is in full swing in the Faculty of Business Administration, thanks to the efforts of student group SIFE Memorial.

Now in its second year, this program is helping Canadian Forces Members, who have an entrepreneurial venture or idea, gain valuable business skills to make their venture sustainable.

Gardiner Centre receives new telephone extension

As part of Memorial University's campus wide transition, all university telephone extensions are transitioning from 737 to 864. The Gardiner Centre's phone number is now 864-7977. The transition is currently underway and both the 864 and 737 extension will function until early 2011, after which time the 737 will be disconnected.
